At the beginning of this month, we went to Shanghai to participate in a couple of events and meet the local game developer community.
Tsugi co-hosted the Game Sound Oasis event, along with Castalia Audio and Tohoku Shinsha Film Corporation, the major dubbing house responsible for bringing hit movies such as Dune to Japanese-speaking audiences. The event was held at the Chinese Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association Game Museum, a perfect location full of incredible pieces of gaming history.
During our session, we talked about creating expressive sounds by drawing them, something not only demonstrated in our range of sound design tools but also in our R&D services, like the Whoosh Generator tool we built for Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, or PokeSynth, a tool used to generate Pokémon cries in Scarlet & Violet.
The evening concluded with an electrifying retro-gaming performance from Haruhisa Tanaka a.k.a. Hally using a duo of Famicom consoles!
We are also thankful for the opportunity we had to speak at CGDC (the Chinese Game Developers Conference) about the benefits of procedural audio for indie game developers.
CGDC was held as part of ChinaJoy, the largest gaming and digital entertainment exhibition in China (and Asia). This year, it welcomed over 410,000 visitors and 700+ exhibitors from 37 countries, which was certainly very impressive to witness!
We had a wonderful time in Shanghai, filled with great interactions, fantastic food, and unforgettable views. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
